When the sun's light falls onto a solar cell it absorbs some of the light particles,
photons, which contain energy.
As the photon is absorbed it starts a process of releasing an electron into the
solar cell creating a current that flows through the electrical contacts that connect
the solar cells. This electricity can be used instantly or stored in a battery.
